To attach the essential without drilling walls, you need two other items: a bar and a Hilo block.
Place your vertical bar wherever you like (near a wall, next to your desk, or in the middle of a room to create a modular partition). Lock it in place with the gas strut, then hang your Hilo block at the right height.
